One of my favorite things about Spring is the feeling of renewal and a fresh start. I love love love the winter but as much as I love the cold, I do love feeling the fresh start Spring brings. Even though we haven't had the springiest start to the season, I think my mind is ready for it and I am definitely in the Spring mindset.
The weather hasn't been the most cooperative recently (I'm looking at you, FOURTH NOR'EASTER WHAT THE HECK) but that should not make you feel less determined, motivated, or ready to turn over a new leaf. Here are some sure fire ways to speed things up, when all it does is slooooow me down. Wait.. this isn't a Blues Traveler song? Oops. Well, here is a perfect segway into what I do to make me feel more like Spring!
1) Pump up the jam, pump it up
DISCLAIMER: This post is not going to be random song lyrics that somehow perfectly describe every single situation in my life, although, if it does, I ain't gonna be mad. ;) Carry on hehe
MUSIC! (I will not reference a Modanna song, I WILL NOT reference a Modanna song). Music makes everything better - there is a song for every moment, every feeling, every memory, and every situation, as I have perfectly described within the first 5 minutes of this post. It is an instant mood booster and no matter the weather outside, it will always help turn things around.
2) Revamp your closet
I love looking through all of my items in my drawers, closet, bins (that chair in your room that was supposed to be your desk chair but somehow turned into another spot to put your clean clothes when you don't feel like folding them and you can't leave them on your bed because you need to sleep and you can't sleep on a pile of clean clothes so you have to put them on your chair because it's too late to fold them at this point...you know, that chair) - wherever you keep your clothes and accessories - dig through it all and reuse and recycle things. This will put you in the mood, question some of your retail decisions, and maybe even give you some fashion inspo! If nothing else, you can even donate your unwanted items - that will always make you feel good too!
3) Revisit your resolutions/goals
This one might be the most important one and that is to look back on all the goals you set for yourself and rework them a bit or revisit them - question their vitality, question your feelings about them. Do they still feel important to you? Do you need to make some tweaks to them? Are they still obtainable and realistic goals? We change and our lives change every day - our goals should also reflect that
4) Pick up a new hobby
You might be thinking ... a new hobby? The weather is going to start getting nicer, why would I want a new hobby? For that exact reason! You never know what opportunities or scenarios your new hobby may bring - and doing something fun and creative will instantly cheer you up and is an immediate mood booster
5) Work on the trifecta - mind, body, and spirit
So often, we always think "we need to work out, go to the gym, and eat super healthy" Yes, that is all very true - however... you also need to make sure your mind and spirit are healthy too - and that means detoxing yourself of all the negative thoughts and feelings. Read a good book, remove yourself from ugly situations AND PEOPLE or try meditating. I have recently been practicing meditation and wow wow wow has it been helping. Not only does it help set my day and help me fall asleep, it has given me more control over my feelings and is helping with my anxiety. Granted, it hasn't been long, but I can already feel an improvement.
